Ron is an experienced Insurance Risk Engineer specialising in Engineering Construction and Onshore Energy Oil, Gas and Petrochemicals risks. A Chemical Engineer, his experience comprises 15 years in the chemicals industry as a design commissioning engineer followed by 8 years specialising in hazard and risk analysis for loss prevention consultant companies. Following this he was employed for 22 years as a Risk Engineer by Swiss Re based in London. He specialises in Oil, Gas and Petrochemicals risks for Engineering Construction (Erection All Risk) and Onshore Energy Underwriters. He is a highly proactive member of the London Risk Engineering community having been Chairman of OPERA (Oil Petrochemical & Energy Risks Association) and Lead Risk Engineer on the Lloyds Market Association (LMA) Onshore Energy Panel from 2013-2018.
Ron holds a particular interest in learning lessons from losses and this is always an integral element when conducting risk engineering surveys. He is a firm believer that Insurers have important information and experience which can be passed on to our Insured.
During Ron's time on the LMA Onshore Energy Panel, he lead the development, in association with other London Market risk engineers, of a number of important documents subsequently issued by the LMA including:
